| Abi [AKA Surya Kaur] first began practising Kundalini Yoga in 1988 when she attended classes led by Shiv Charan Singh in London.
Kundalini Yoga is a powerful, dynamic way to cultivate energy, serenity, personal power and spiritual awakening, As well as promoting stress-management, general fitness and flexibility. It combines all the yogic techniques of breathing, movement, stretching, meditation, mantras and relaxation, and will enable you to look great, feel great, relax, enjoy life and live in grace and gratitude. It facilitates the flow of pranic and spiritual (psychic) energy, in particular along the spinal energy channels and through the chakras. It works fast and goes very deep.
She qualified as a teacher of Kundalini Yoga in 2003 and has been teaching in Calderdale ever since.
Abi is also a qualified practitioner of Ayurvedic massage.

| A friend introduced me to hatha yoga in 1992 when I lived in Portsmouth. I loved it and continued to practice, going on to train in Sivananda Yoga and qualifying to teach in 1998 after a move to London.
I found a good teacher in Anne-Marie Zulkahari at the Yoga and Pilates Movement in NW London, where I continued to train and to teach some classes. She introduced me to the Vanda Scaravelli style of yoga which focuses on using gravity and grounding to lengthen and awaken the spine.
This style greatly influences my practice and teaching. I moved to Hebden Bridge in 2002 and have been running yoga classes here since then. I enjoy trying to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere in my classes where the emphasis is on posture work and the breath. |

| | | | I discovered ashtanga yoga in Rishikesh in north India in 1998 and was immediately hooked. After travelling around the world and not really knowing what else to do with my life I moved to London to study with Hamish Hendry at Ashtanga Yoga London. I studied there for a few years with Hamish eventually teaching me to assist in the class, learning to teach the traditional Mysore method.
Over the years I have studied with Guruji and Sharath in Mysore for a number of months as well as studying with John Scott in the Uk. In London I taught at Triyoga and The Life Centre as well as privately.
We moved up north with our 2 young children at the beginning of 2009 with the intention of passing on our love of the practice. We have set up classes in Leeds, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. With my husband, Joey Miles, I teach regular ashtanga workshops at the Claderdale Yoga Centre and have a regular Thursday night ashtanga class. I also run the occasional Mum and Baby Post Natal yoga course.

I completed a BWY Foundation Course in 1995, and more recently Teacher Training in Vinyasa Krama Yoga, as taught by Krishnamacharya from his lifelong student Sri Ramaswami.
Vinyasa Krama Yoga is a gentle, progressive yoga suitable for beginners and all levels. It links together body, mind and breath with each movement. Each step (Krama) builds on the last, so the asanas progress whilst the vinyasa helps you flow more deeply into a posture. Asana, Pranayama and meditation are all part of each class.
