Advance Your Practice - monthly workshops with Alison Henning
Advance Your Practice - monthly workshops with Alison Henning
Deepen and refine your yoga practice in 2025. Explore physical and energetic alignment principles through breath and postural work – to find more precision and subtlety in familiar poses and make those ‘out of reach’ challenging poses more accessible. Each session will have a particular focus, and we’ll work progressively towards some fun (and optional!) ‘peak’ poses (think backbends, arm balances, inversions).
The small-group workshop format allows space for practice, demonstration and discussion, plenty of individual guidance and a lovely long relaxation. Available to book as single sessions or join for the whole series.
Suitable for students with 1+ years of regular practice.

21st February / 21st March / 18th April / 16th May / 13th June / 11th July 2026

Ashtanga Mysore Style or counted primary (Monthly) with Donna Southwell
In Mysore-style classes, each student practices the Ashtanga system at their own pace, with individual instruction and hands-on adjustments by the teacher. Poses are added gradually to ensure a safe yet challenging experience. Students new to Ashtanga are not expected to know the sequence. This class is open to all levels (complete beginners should come to one or two introduction to ashtanga classes first or have a one to one so that they have at least a basic knowledge of the first two sun salutations).
Poses will be added gradually according to ability and commitment. This allows for a deeper connection to develop between teacher, student, and the practice. As a new student, one is introduced to postures one at a time. An on-going student finds an opportunity to refine the practice and gain the ability to move efficiently through the practice without being led verbally by a teacher.
Counted Primary series - the teacher leads the class using the Sanskrit count so that all the students are moving and breathing together. Some knowledge of Ashtanga is essential but you do not have to know all of the primary series.
Next dates -
Sat 10th Jan - led primary
Sat 28th Feb - Mysore
Sat 28th March - led primary
Sat 11th April - Mysore
Cost - £16

I’d tried many yoga classes over the years, but when I first went to an ashtanga class in Rishikesh, North India in 1999, I knew that this was the style for me. Unbeknown to me, those two weeks of practice would change the direction of my life.
I continued to do my own practice whilst travelling around the world using …
